St. Christopher’s Catholic Church Rev. L. A Lindemann Pastor Sunday Masses: 8:00 o’clock Weekday Masses ...7:00 o’clock On Friday morning the Mass was at 6 o’clock —a High Mass for the Cullen and McCoy families. All who possibly can will'receive Holy Communion and attend Mass on Saturday morning. In that way, they will honor and show their love for the Immaculate Heart of Mary on First Saturday and offer prayers for peace. Next Friday, October 7th, is First Friday. Confessions will be heard on Thursday at the usual times in preparation for the receiving of Holy Communion on First Friday. At the 8:30 o’clock Mass Sunday, the men of the Parish will receive Holy Communion. The date of the regular Altar Society meetings was changed at the last meeting from the third Wednesday of the month to the First Wednesday of the month. Therefore, next Wednesday, October sth, will be the regular monthly meeting. It is hoped that as many members attend as attended in September, when sixty ladies “turned out.” Such attendance, enthusiasm, and interest of the ladies of the Parish lifts the morale of the officers—and that is good. Many things pertaining to the St. Christopher school, as well as to the society, were discussed and passed on. Milk for the children was one of the important items which was decided upon, and no doubt the children will be receiving their milk by the time you read this The other things will come as we grow. The hostesses for the October sth meeting are Mrs. Ruth Aharn, chairman, Mrs. Florence Goldey, co-chairman, assisted by Mesdames Helen Morris, Mary Lee Sansone, LaVema Marlin, Margaret Adam, Josephine Medenwald, Fairy Gaughan, Mary Catherine Burke, Clara M. Stamm, Mamona Geiman, Sarah Mann, Mary Sheridan, Gertrude Kerchner, Dorothy Mann, Owen Rowley, Madelene Devine, Louis Lee and Inez Cole. Mrs. Lillian Plummer would have been a hostess, but they have moved to another part of the city. Don’t forget the date—next Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock. BAKED GOODS and ART WORK SALE will be held in the Speedway Savings and Loan Building on Main Street Friday and Saturday, October 7th and Bth: Friday from 9 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon, and Saturday from 9 until 1 o’clock. Mrs. Marian Arnold, chairman, has requested that all Art Goods be brought to her home at 1703 Beeler by Wednesday, October sth (or if you’re coming to the Altar Society meeting Wednesday evening, you may bring your art goods then). The Baked Goods should be brought in as early in the mornings as possible, but especially so on Saturday morning —but, of course, not before 9 o’clock. The committee in charge of this sale are Mary Ann Arnold, chairman, Helen Morris, co-chairman, assisted by Leona Kaufman, Katie Klintworth, Agnes Shaw, Angela Grabner, Ann Bozich, Helen Swift, Lorena Schenck, Notie Stamm, Margaret Winchell, Mrs. Beyersdorfer, Elizabeth Beberdick, Mary Jane Hirth, Effie Moran and Mary Wall. Mrs. Notie Stamm was the lucky one in the Merchandise Club last week. She chose sheets and pillow-cases. Little Bobby O’Neal was her good-luck charm. While the Bake and Art Goods Sale is going on on Main Street in Speedway Saturday, another group of St. Christopher ladies will be having a Rummage Sale in Indianapolis. Will you please bring any article of clothing or whatever you might not want any longer down to the church as soon as possible. There is not much time for the ladies to get their goods ready, so help them all you can. If you have rummage and simply can’t bring it down, call Mrs. Key Eddleman, chairman, BEI- - 1480, Mrs. Dorothy Arthur, co-chairman, BElmont 1389, or Mrs. Joseph Rosner, president of the Altar Society, BElmont 1715. Of course, fall and winter clothing will sell better this time of the year. Do you have any old pieces of furniture, dishes, curtains, window shades, lamps, jewelry or bric-a-brac? Have you purchased your ticket yet for the Style Show and Card Pary to be held in St. Christopher’s new school on Thursday night, October 13th? The price of the tickets is 50 cents. Get up a table and go down, why don’t you? We are sure you will have a good time, as these parties have always been very nice affairs. Remember the parties held in St. Christopher’s new school are no different than the ones held in Speedway School—they are for all who care to come. The first Book Review is scheduled for Thursday evening, October 27th. Tickets will go on sale after the Style Show and Card Party. Whew! but October is going to be a busy month for St. Christopher. “Because I believe in God, I believe in prayer. It is the surest means of becoming conscious of His presence; that is the real meaning of prayer, its strength and its reward.” —Mahatma Gandhi. Nora Bray.
