Religious Education Week At Speedway Christian Church

Religious Education Week will be observed at the Speedway Christian Church from September 26th to October 3rd. For a number of years the International Council of Religious Education, has urged churches to observe Religious Education Week during the “split week” which ends the month of September and begins the month of October. This week thus becomes a sort of “Kick Off” week for the Fall Christian education program. With our promotion day programs, our department remodelling plans, and the enlistment and rededication of our teachers and officers for the new school year, Speedway Christian can respond to the challenge at hand.

Brilliant Concert Season Promised by Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra On November 13th-the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will open its 1949-50 season at the Murat Theatre. Dr. Fabien Sevitzky returns for his 13th season as music director of the Symphony, and you will hear such outstanding soloists as Janis, pianist; Thebom, mezzo-soprano; Gold & Fizdale, duo-pianists; Rubinstein, pianist; Dorfman, pianist; Neveu, violinist; Szigeti, Violinist; Fournier, cellist; and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Season tickets range in price from $9.90 to $29.70 covering the full eleven concerts, and you may ’ choose the Saturday, Sunday, Monday evening series, or 11 concerts on Sunday afternoon.

We should be justly proud of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra; for it is our only major league representative in cities throughout the country. In their concert tour this year they, for the first time, will play outside the United States, having engagements in Ottawa and Montreal as well as many eastern states. They will be one of only four Symphony Orchestras to play in Carnegie Hall this season. The Symphony needs your support in the annual season ticket sale. Perhaps you would like to donate a student ticket to your high school where it will be used by interested students. Or, maybe you wish to give a ticket to a friend or relative for Christmas. You might wish to split a ticket with one or two friends. There are many good $9.90 seats and for 11 concerts this makes it cost only 99c per concert. A section of seats on the main floor (regularly $19.80) has been set aside for student use. The cost of these student tickets is only $9.90. You don't have to be studying music
