SCHOOLNEWS (Continued from page D marching contest that will be held in connection with the DeKalb County Fair at Auburn, Ind., Saturday, Sept. 17. Mr. Gilbert Kellberg, formerly of the Jordan School, is the band director at Auburn High School. Many northern Indiana bands will take part in the competition as a preliminary to their marching contest which is held in the fall. The football field bleacher fund was increased by $672.32 at the Speedway vs. Brownsburg game. Net receipts from the sale of tickets was $616.72; from net sales at concession stands, $50.60, and from donations, $5. School officials appreciate the fact that Speedway fans were willing to pay the additional amount to increase this fund. The Junior Safety Patrol for the first six weeks has been organized under the direction of Mr. McClelland. The officers will be Tom Riggle, captain; Marilyn Woodward, lieutenant; Carol Fidler, clerk. The various posts will be taken care of by Judy Paton, Larry Henderson, Larry Montague, Lou Ann McDowell, David Newton, Bobby Fehr, Ray Delong, Roy Delong, Jimmy Bledsoe, Carol 1 Fidler, Joann Dryer, Judy Foster, Morgan Willoughby, Fred Scott, Beverly Erwin, Don Weddle, Veryl Baker, Ann Marmaduke, Earl Chambers, Ronnie Hunt, Carolyn Mann. Jerry Doicu. Deane Smith, Terry Vaughn, Linda Lindley, Charles Layton, Linda Robbins, Louis Meier 111, Kay Chilton, Charles Gebauer, Marilyn Winter, Frank Wood, Tom Riggle and Marilyn Woodward. Although he was released from the hospital with no ill effects following the game, it showed the savage and brutal line play of the reformatory. His replacement, Noel Good of New Augusta, a newcomer to the All-Stars this year, stepped into Deem’s shoes and scored the tieing touchdown with but three I minutes remaining in the ball game. This came on a sustained

drive of 46 yards in six plays with Good carrying the ball over on a quarterback sneak. The try for extra point failed when guard Carl Way’s kick from placement hit the upright and bounced back onto the field. The All-Stars only other near scoring opportunity failed when righthalf Gene Thomas dropped lefthalf Donald King’s pass while all alone on the reformatory’s 10 yard line. Thomas more than made up for this however by two fine runs that came in the AllStars late drive. Roy Jacobs was a key man on defensive for the All-Stars and did a bit of* fine offensive work. More will be heard from this boy next week as his running was a spark in the Stars late drive. Passing by Good to Gerald Dodd was often successful and can be counted on for added yardage when the ground game stalls. The All-Stars certainly must have developed some ardent fans for the guests attending the game
