Donald Huffer, a newcomer to the All-Star roster this year, was injured seriously in practice when he received a fractured skull in scrimmage. Huffer, a resident of Anderson, Ind., and former backfield star on the Anderson High School football team was participating in the All-Star intersquad game. Playing defensive halfback, Huffer had given a good account of himself and was assuring himself of seeing considerable action in next week’s opener at Pendleton. In making a tackle he caught either a knee or a cleat in the forehead just below the helmet. Although Huffer will be lost for the season, Coach Dodds has been working several boys for that halfback position and it is hoped that one of these boys will round out the backfield combination in time for the opener. Huffer, a 180 pound back, is a southpaw and has been working out with the All-Stars since early August and has drawn the coaches attention by his keen competitive spirit as well as his ability.
