“Learn to Swim” Campaign “With summer weather already here, there isn’t a person who won’t soon be in, on, or around water. They’ll be going to lakes, swimming in pools, boating on rivers, just plan wading. This summer, not only for your health but for your safety, learn to swim if you don’t already know how,” Jim Clark, chairman of the. Red Cross water safety committee, advised. This year, as in previous years, the City Recreation Department and the local Red Cross will sponsor a “Learn to Swim” campaign. Free classes in swimming and life saving will be given at all city pools. The classes will begin around June 13 and will be taught by fully qualified Red Cross instructors. A complete schedule of classes will be announced later. This is an opportunity for everyone, young or old, to take free swimming lessons during the summer months. “It’s only natural that everyone, especially youngsters, will be near water this summer, be-

Greenland’s Ice Cap One theory on the formation of the ice cap says that Greenland was originally shaped like a pie crust, with a rim of mountains around a low central plain. Winter after winter, snow gradually filled the pie crust to overflowing. Each year’s snow, pressing down on the ice cap, forces chunks around the edges to break off into the sea, forming icebergs.
