BUY A CARNATION On May 7 the American War Mothers will hold their annual Carnation Sale. The money derived from this sale is used for work in the various veterans hospitals. The U.S.A. Chapter of American War Mothers will hold their sale in Speedway. Mrs. Harriet Shepherd is in charge assisted by Mrs. Nola Fisher and Mrs. Evelyn Heidenreich. Girl Scout Troop 222 will assist the war mothers. Headquarters will be in Frank’s Furniture Store on Main St., and Lyndhurst Inn on the Crawfordsville Road. There is no set price for the carnations. Bernhardt Americanism chairman of the unit In presenting the medal Mrs. Bernhardt said, “A nation is only as strong as its citizenship. Americanism should be taught in all our schools. The greatest weapon with which to control Communism and its kindred diseases is education. We must build in our youth the qualities of Christianity, honor, courage, leadership and service in addition to patriotism. That is Americanism.” Guests present at the ceremonies included Mr. and Mrs. Ray H. Stewart, parents of Ray; Miss Thelma Stout, one of the cooperating teachers, and Mr. Richard C. Jordan, superintendent of the Speedway schools. Miss Agnes Spencer was invited but could dot attend. Judges of the contest were, in addition to Mrs. Bernhardt, Mrs. E. R.
