St. Christopher’s Catholic Chorch Rev. L. A. Lindemann Pastor Sunday Masses: 6:00 o’clock Weekday Masses 7:00 o’clock Members of the Altar Society and all the ladies of the Parish will receive Holy Communion Sunday at the 8.30 o’clock Mass. . The Mass on Saturday morning will be a High Mass at 6 o’clock for the Cullen-McCoy families. Friday of this week is First Friday, with special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus: and Saturday, the first Saturday, with special devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Book Review last week was very much of a success. Mrs Yvonne Smith, chairman, Mrs. Faye Lucas, co-chairman, and their committee feel very grateful to all One thought which we brought home with us very forcibly was that we should not pray to God for something for ourselves, and expect Him to answer our prayers, as long as we were carrying a hatred of someone in our own hearts. BAKE SALE—this SATURDAY—MAY 7th—at the Speedway Saving ß and Loan on Main St. All the ladies are asked to get their pies, cakes, rolls, salads, and whatever they are to bring down to the sale by 9 o’clock, if possible: but not later than 9:30. The sale will begin at 9 o’clock, and continue until everything is sold. Mrs. Evelyn Davis of 1819 Christopher Lane is chairman, and Mrs. Olivia Bische of 1803 Norfolk is co-chairman. If there are any questions, call Mrs. Bische, please, BE. 0393. In spite of all the showers last Sunday, the cornerstone for St Christopher’s new school was laid. We all felt that we were especially blessed, as the sun shone during the ceremonies, and then as the people were ready to leave the chapel after benediction, it just poured—but for only a little while As one woman expressed it “as the sun shown while the archbishop was speaking, it seemed like a benediction.” Mrs. Mary Struble of Lafayette passed away last Friday. Mrs. Struble is the mother of Mrs. Jenny Zink, formerly of St. Christopher, but now living in Birmingham, Mich. We extend our sympathy to Jenny and her family. “Little” Mary Ann Rennard did the favors last Sunday for the Merchandise Club. Mrs. Albert Greatbots of 1203 Winton Ave., was the favored one. She chose a double hob-nail white bedspread. Emma Jean and Joe Rosner want to invite all their friends over to their home at 1050 Winton Ave. on Sunday, May 15th, from 5:00 in the afternoon on. The reason for the celebration is their silver wedding anniversary. No formal invitations are being issued: they want everyone to know that they are welcome, and to come. We were fortunate enough to be a May Day guest at Marian College Sunday evening for their senior play, “Annie Laurie,” in Madonna Hall. It was very lovely, even if we did cry a little. And we want to thank that someone for the beautiful May Day basket which they left at our front screen Sunday morning. The program at the Speedway School Tuesday night in celebration of Music Week was the best which we have ever enjoyed there. Speedway should be very proud. ' A Mother-Daughter Communion Breakfast at St Christopher is now being planned for Sunday, May 22. More later. Wear a white flower Sunday for your departed mother or a colorful flower if she is living if you wish, but the most important act of love which you can show her is to receive Holy Communion. In Holy Communion, you not only remember your own worldly mother, but Holy Mary, Mother of Jesus, and the mother of all of us, as well. A spiritual vitamin for May—“ Jesus and Mary, my most sweet loves, for you may I suffer, for you may I die: grant that I may be in all things yours, and in nothing mine!” Nora Bray.
