LUTHERANS BOOK PICTURE A coal mine cave-in and a Holy Communion service 200 feet down in a Pennsylvania coal mine are two of the dramatic scenes of “Salt of the Earth,” the new religious motion picture of the United, Lutheran Church in ica, to be shown at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, meeting in the Speedway Town Hall at 10:45 a. m. Sunday, Oct. 17. The picture was produced as a special feature of the 30th anniversary of the United Lutheran Church, being celebrated this year. The film is being scheduled for showings in all 4,000 congregations of the church body, and will be released for use by other denominations on Jan. 1 through the facilities of the producer, Cathedral Films of Hollywood. “Salt of the Earth” is the authentic, heart-warming story of a coal miner, Harley Russell, who | decides that a Christian must do something about his religion. The role is played by Robert Armstrong and the supporting cast includes Russel Hayden, Lane Chandler and the King’s Men Quartet.
