It is to be regretted that St. Christopher Chapel is too small to accommodate all who would care to come to the 7 o’clock Mass, but after all the parents, relatives and friends of the children should be the first to be considered. The other Masses on Sunday will be at the regular times—--6:00, 8:30 and 10 o’clock. At 6 o’clock on Saturday morning a Requiem High Mass will be said for Louie Carlsen—first anniversary. The wedding of Mary Catherine Rosner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rosner, and Harry Albert Parker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parker, will be celebrated at 8:30 o’clock Saturday morning. Onita Earles was looked upon with favor by Louie Rosner Sunday at the meeting of the Merchandise Club. She chose looped rugs. She is not a resident of Speedway. However, she has two memberships, and even though she is a friend of Mazie Etter’s, and it would seem that Mazie’s friends have been especially favored this month, we are happy she was favored and hope that she enjoys her rugs very much. Jane Marie Rosner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rosner, on the Crawfordsville Road was graduated from St. Mary of the Woods, Terre Haute, this week. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in social work. Congratulations, Jane! With all the weddings and everything on Saturday morning, don’t let us forget that Saturday is the first Saturday in the month of June. We must continue to pray fervently to Holy Mother, especially to her as Our Lady of Fatima, Queen cf the Most Holy Rosary, for the conversion of Russia . . . and for peace for the world. “No man has a right to do as he pleases, except when he pleases to do right.”—C. JUNE IS DEACONNESS MONTH in the United Lutheran Church. Do you know that a Deaconness is a Christian, motivated by faith in Jesus Christ and love for her fellowmen, who having offered herself to minister in His name, and having successfully completed a course in theory and practice in a deaconness school, has been admitted to that office of the church by a service of consecration. The promises of the Deaconness are comparable to the pastor’s vows of ordination. A deaconness wears a garb to identify her as one in the service of the church. Such identification opens doors through which the ministry of the church might not otherwise pass. A deaconness may leave the diaconate at any time, but as long as she remains in the service she is assured of provision for her old age and whatever care she may need. A pamphlet explaining the work of the deaconness will be available Sunday morning. THE CHURCH COUNCIL will meet the second Tuesday of the month, June 14. This is the regular date for the meeting. SUNDAY SCHOOL, with classes for all age groups, meet at 9:30 a.m. Plans for Children’s Day are now being made. The Day program will be presented on June 27. Parents are urged to encourage regular attendance throughout the summer. New residents are invited to enroll their children as soon as possible.
