St. Christopher’s Catholic Church Rev. L. A. Lindemann— .Pastor Sunday Masses: , 4 6:00 o’clock Weekday Masses. 7:00 o’clock Forty-Hours Devotion began at St. Christopher with the celebration of a High Mass at six o’clock this morning. There will be services Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30. The Holy Eucharist will be exposed for veneration each day—from the end of Mass until the close of Benediction at the evening services. It has been suggested, especially since this is spring vacation at the schools,'that the High School and grade pupils make a special effort to come and adore Him at the hours assigned to them. There should always be someone in St. Christopher Chapel while the Holy Eucharist is exposed. At each evening service, the Chapel should be over-crowded. It is true statistics show that a certain percentage of parishioners do not make an effort to attend these special services—do not take advantage of these special opportunities to show their love for Almighty God—yet if there are enough souls belonging to St. Christopher to fill and more than fill the Chapel three times on Sunday, surely it is not too much to expect it to be filled on Friday and Saturday nights of the Forty-Hours Devotion. Someone might ask, “what is Forty-Hours Devotion?” It is simply forty hours of prayer to Almighty God. On Sunday morning at the 8:30 o’clock Mass the ladies of the Parish will receive Holy Communion. The Feast of the Annunication of the Blessed Virgin Mary was celebrated on Monday, April 5, having been moved ahead from Holy Week. The committee for the Merchandise Club met in the home of Mrs. Gladys Theiss, Chairman, last week. Little Susie Arnold and little Carolyn O’Neal were chosen to do the honors, and they favored Mrs. Julia Findall of 1248 North Holmes Avenue with blue looped rugs. The. first Provincial Convention of the National Council of Catholic Women to be held in Indianapolis will be April 16, 17 and 18 in the Cathedral High School Auditorium. This convention will be a meeting of the four Indiana Dioceses of the National Council of Catholic Women. Quoting the Most Reverend Paul C. Schulte, Archbishop of Indianapolis, it will have “as its theme and thought, the making of Catholic womanhood realize the part it has to play if the world is to be brought back to Christ.” It is the hope of the Council that the ladies of the Deanery will attend in great numbers. The Altar Society of St Christopher have three, and possibly five, tickets which they would be happy to give to that many ladies if' they ean -arrange to attend . Contact Mrs. Verdi Marie Denton, President Belmont 3412-J, not later than noon Sunday, April 11, as the reservations must go in by then. On Friday, April 16, there will just be Board Meetings, arranged by each Diocese. At 8:30, Saturday morning, there will be a Low Mass and five minute sermon by Most Rev.‘ Paul C. Schulte, D.D. at SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral. From there, the convention will move to the Cathedral High School Auditorium; noon luncheon at K of C Restaurant and back again to the Cathedral Auditorium at 2 o’clock and again at 8:00 P. M. On Sunday, there will be committee meetings from 9:00 to 10:30 A. M. followed by a Pontifical High Mass at 11:00 A. M. at SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral; luncheon at 12:30 at K of C Restaurant and the convention will close with Rosary and Benediction at 2:30 P. M. in SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral. If you would like to attend, but can only do a part of the convention, be sure to contact Mrs. Denton and she will .make arrangements. There may be others who can only go for part of the convention too. Remember, contact Mrs. Denton, Belmont 3412-J, before if possible, but definitely by Sunday noon, April 11. “Ask and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.” St. John 16:24; but always remembering, “For what a man sows, that he will also reap.” Galatians 6:8.
