School News (Continued from Page 1) all pupils from Kindergarten to Grade twelve. In addition to films and slides many classes use opaque projections, filmstrips, still pictures and hand-made slides. Copies of our school newspaper, The Speedway Speedette, covering the past four years 1944-1948, have been sent to Miss Kathryn Hawkins, of Hartford City who requested them as specimens for a survey on duplicated school papers which she is conducting under the auspices of Ball State Teachers College. Katie Heaton is editor-in-chief of our current publication; editors of the other specimens sent to Miss Hawkins were Joyce Williams (1946-47), Al Wagner (1945-46), and Hank Hendryx (1944-45). The 1946-47 staff ’under Miss Williams earned the International Second Place Award from Quill and Scroll, International Honorary Society for High School Journalists, sponsored by the Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University. Following the study of a unit on Western States the fifth grade social studies classes arranged an exhibit of their work on the West in the Visual Education Room. Speedway schools closed today for spring vacation. Schools will reopen on Monday, April 12 at
