ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH Rev. L. A. Lindemann Pastor Sunday Masses: 6:00 o’clock Weekday Masses. 7:00 o’clock On next Sunday—the fourth Sunday of the month —the children of St. Christopher will receive Holy Communion at the 8330 o’clock Mass. One Sunday each month is set aside as the special time for certain .groups to receive Holy Communion. Of course, this does not mean that they only receive on that day or that that special group cannot receive any other time or as often as they wish. , From the more, than one 'hundred and fifty families belonging to St. Christopher, contributions to the Bishop’s Relief Fund were received last Sunday from 105 families. The amount given was $275.00. However, Father Lindesnann is holding up the mailing of the check to the Bishop until after next Sunday in order to give the other families of St. Christopher an opportunity to send in their donations to him or to drop their envelopes in the collection next Sunday. Father Lindemann called attention last Sunday to an editorial in the Indianapolis News last Friday regarding this national campaign in ychich members o# the Indianapolis Diocese of the Catholic Church have joined in to support the world-wide relief programs of the American Bishops’ Emergency Relief Committee and War Relief Services and the National Catholic Welfare Conference. The object is to raise a minimum of five million dollars for the need of war victims—especially children, the aged and the sick—regardless of race, color, religion or creed, or no religion at all. Already these Catholic agencies have supplied 119,884,000 pounds of food, clothing and medicine, having an approximate value of ninety million dollars for relief in 01 counties, at an administrative cost of less than 2%. Many campaigns are being conducted this year for relief and rehabilitation by various religious groups, and from “America” he gave us these figures: $170,000,000 is being asked by the United Jewish Appeal, $5,000,000 by the American Orthodox Federation (Jewish), $10,000,000 by the Southern Baptist Church, $14,000,000 by the Northern Baptist Church, $250,000,000 by the Methodist Church, $10,000,000 by the Lutheran World Relief, Inc., more than seven million by the American Friends Service Commitsee (Quaker), $6,000,000 by the Congregation of the Christian Church and other amounts from many others —totaling more than four hundred million dollars. The lives of millions and the course of human history for hundreds of years depends upon the generosity of Americans. These campaigns cannot and must not fail. After aH'ft* w&rH isreally Jn' America should >give thanks to Almighty God that we are the ones whOse*<<ountry was spared and that we are able to give. On Wednesday evening after services a business meeting of the Altar Society was held. Further plans were made for the BAKE SALE to be held on .Saturday, April sth—there was much talk about a Merchandise Club—and Mrs. Doris Atkinson, Chairman of the April Card Party, was there to talk over ber plans.
