Share Easter Joy With Children; Buy Easter Seals Will Give Many Crippled Children Services They Need “Help Crippled Children” is the message of the 130,000 Easter Seal letters being mailed to residents of Marion County today, Dr. Thurman B % Rice, chairman of the Easter Seal Committee, an* nounces. These attractive stickers are being distributed by the Marion County Society for the Crippled to provide opportunity for public support of its work on behalf of crippled children and handicapped persons. The society is cooperating with 44 other member societies of the National Society for Crippled Children and Adults in the nation-wide distribution of Easter Seals to provide funds for many needed services for the hundreds of thousands of crippled children in the nation. Funds raised during 1947 will help to give many crippled children the services they need, such as individual instruction in the home, speech correction, Crossroads Teen-age Canteen, Day Camp and Summer Camp, and the loan of wheel chairs, hospital beds and walkers. “Our society does not duplicate the work of other agencies, public or private, but is concerned

with the unmet needs of crippled children and handicapped adults,” according to Mr. Chester T. Spriggs, president of the Marion County Society for the Crippled. Crossroads Rehabilitation Center at 30th and North New Jersey streets, with complete physical and occupational therapy departments, is the main project of the society. The American Women’s Voluntary Services support every activity at Crossroads from help for the homebound to recreation for crippled children and disabled adults. The profits from the A. W. V. S. shop at 416 East 30th street, are used in this work. Miss Louann Myers, president of A. W. V. S., announces the mobilization of her organization for special help in the Easter Seal campaign. Forty-five Boy Scout troops are also rendering valuable assistance.
