A Youth Concert To Be Presented By Music Clubs Proceeds To Be Used To Furnish Equipment For War Wounded A youth concert with a small admission fee benefiting the Music for Our Wounded Fund of the Indiana Federation of Music Clubs, will be given by the Indianapolis and Marion County district of the federation at Caleb Mills Hall Tuesday evening, Mar. 4 at 8 o’clock sharp. The program will be given by three groups affiliated with the federation: the Arsenal Technical Choir directed by J. Russell Paxton, the Jordan Youth Symphony Orchestra with Beldon Leonard, conductor, and Victor Kolar as guest conductor, and a ballet directed by Eileen Poston.
Proceeds will be used to purchase musical equipment for war wounded in veterans’ hospitals throughout the country. Tickets are on sale at Gladys Alwes Music Shop, Jordan Conservatory of Music, 1204 North Delaware street, and its north branch at 34th and Pennsylvania streets, Indiana Music Co., and L. S. Ayres’ sheet music department, and will be at. the box office that night. The concert will conclude the first annual meeting of the district to open that morning with a “Breakfast in Hollywood” at the Indianapolis Athletic Club. Mrs. Frederic H. Sterling, district president, is state director of the Music for Our Wounded Fund and general chairman of all of the day’s activities. Sorority Sponsors Bridge Party » The annual bridge party sponsored by the Sigma Delta Tau sorority will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday, March 8 at L. S. Ayres’ auditorium, it was announced this week by Miss Ruth Miller, chairman, and Miss Ann Clampitt, cochairman. A style show will be presented by Ayres. Each year the proceeds from the party is given to the Rotary Convalescent Home of the James Whitcomb Riley Hospital. The sorority has given the home a 16 mm. projector and stand, and each year furnishes .additional films to be shown to the children. Miss Florence Brown, superintendent of nurses, Rotary Home, will be introduced by Mrs. Eldon Beghtel, chairman of hostesses.
