LINE ALSO FORMS FOR NEW VEHICLES Have you been standing in line for nylons, white shirts or beef steaks? Few Americans have escaped the lines which, form for scarce commodities. This also is true of transit companies throughout the country, because trolleys and buses are as scarce as new automobiles, houses and bed sheets. Indianapolis Railways has been standing in line impatiently waiting for new vehicles for more than a year. Of 135 trackless trolleys and motor coaches ordered by the Company, only 18 have been delivered this year. After 10 buses were received for the converted Shelby line in March no deliveries were made until September when two of 30 diesel coaches arrived. Two weeks ago the transit company was able to obtain five new Twin Coach buses, the first of their kind in the city. A local manufacturer, MarmonHerrington has completed its first trackless trolley, a huge 44 passenger vehicle which combines many of the best features for passenger comfort and safety. It was delivered to Indianapolis Railways Monday and 14 more will start rolling off the assembly lines in November. An additional order for 25 has fceen placed for 1947 delivery.
