They absorb the sun’s rays, get overheated more quickly and do not live as long as white horses. Experts in the field of color research know well the results of these experiments. However, the causes of some of these results are to this day inexplainable.

School Notes (Continued from Page 1) hood Education has as its purpose to better the welfare of the child. Speedway Schools will be closed Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25 for the annual meeting of the Indiana State Teachers Association. Dr. Dodd and Mr. Alexander of the Purdue University survey staff visited Speedway this week. These men were checking the proposed plans for the addition to our high school. Since the first day of school grades 1 have been preparing for their performance which is to be given at the kindergarten-pri-mary section of the State Teachers’ Institute. This program is a culminating activity of a circus unit we have been studying. The children have •made original drawings, stories and dramatizations. They have seen slides and films. They have learned the first of their basic reading vocabulary. Choral read-i ing is part of the language arts program. The clown'dance is an outgrowth of rhythmics. The rhythm band is under the direction of Mrs. Bowers. The song f about the merry-go-round is one of their favorites. On Friday morning, October 18 at 10 a. m., in the high school gym, grades 1 will give this program at a grade school convocation. We wish to invite any persons interested to attend this convocation.
