Transit Schedule »' Information Given Telephones in the Service Department of the Indianapolis Railways rang 106,236 times during the first six months of this year as patrons called in unprecedented numbers to obtain route and schedule information concerning street car, trackless trolley and motor coach lines. fattens are urged to make use of this service by calling Riley 1571. The return of servicemen, postwar shifting of population, house hunting and revival of. pre-war recreational activities are largely responsible for the increase in requests for information. Total calls exceeded the' 90,711 total received by the Company during the first six months of last year. An average of 587 persons called daily this year. The service department is open from 6:30 a. m. until 11 p. m. daily and from 8 a. m. until 11 p. m. on Sundays and holidays. The service department is equipped with maps pf the city and with route schedules of all lines in the system. Workers are able to estimate almost to the mimite the time when vehicles will reach various stops. Many visitors and new residents of the city make use of the service to determine the easiest and quickest way to reach interesting places, business locations, parks and outlying communities.
