Lyndhurst Dr. “Bittersweet” Cast Much Larger Than Previous Years Members of the Indianapolis Opera Theater Company and a 25-piece orchestra are ready to give Indianapolis its third and finest season of summer opera at the Indiana State Fairgrounds this week end, starting Friday, Aug. 9, for three consecutive nights, in playing Noel Coward’s delightful “Bitter Sweet.” The cast of 51 is much larger than the “Pirates” and “Pinafore” companies of the last two years and Charles Hedley, director, has added. considerable new talent which was not available for those two productions because of the war. The orchestra, assembled under the direction of William Schumacher, includes many members of the Indianapolis Symphony. Billie Cole, the star of “Pinafore,” and Frank Parrish of Radio station WIRE will be seen and heard in the leading dramatic roles under the sponsorship of the Indianapolis Theater Association, Inc., in cooperation with the Indianapolis Department of Parks and the Indiana State Fair Board. Seven thousand free seats will be available in the grandstand for each performance and some reserved seats priced at $1.20 still may be obtained. Reserved seats also may be obtained at L. Strauss & Co., the Meridian Book Store, the Gladys Alwes Music Shop and the Indianapolis News.
