School News Speedway schools will open for the fall term on Tuesday, Sept 3. The woodwork on the lower floor of the elementary building and in rooms 1 and 2 of the upper floor has been repainted. I The dark green woodwork has 'been replaced by a lighter colored woodwork. All teaching positions for the fall term have been filled except for the replacement of Miss Suzanne Cauble. a visual education clinic at the I University of Wisconsin. Miss l Spencer and Miss Couch are also at the University of Wisconsin this summer. Ed Johnson has completed the necessary subjects and is now ’ eligible to receive his high school diploma from Speedway High School. Ed last attended school in Speedway in'the fall of 1939. A transcript of credits has been mailed to Purdue University for Charles Ramsay. Charles was graduated from Speedway in 1944 and attended General Motors In- ' stitute for one year before entering the armed forces.

Orville English, high school custodian for the past two years, has resigned. Mr. English plans to go into business with his brother-in-law in Missouri. Applications for the high school custodian position are being received at the school office. Early in August a letter will be mailed to Speedway teachers listing rooms, .apartments and houses available in Speedway. July 30—All clothing girls who are not finished should report to Miss Keckler at the school building from 9 to 12 and 1 to 4. July 31—The committee for Achievement Day should be here ready to work at 10 o’clock. All clothing and baking exhibits be delivered to the school building gymnasium by 10 a. m. Check in record books for exhibit requirements. The program will begin at 2 p. m. Those girls who want to dance or sing or be in the program report on Tuesday at school building. All members be present by 2 o’clock. The public is invited to the program, dress revue, and to see the exhibit of the completed 4-H Club members.
