TROLLEYBUSES APPROVED FOR EAST MIONGAN Final Approval of Downtown Route Opposed by Dauss Many residents of the East Side will be glad to hear that a changeover from street car to trackless, trolley service on the East Michigan line has been approved by the board of works and sanitation. A compromise route in the downtown area also was approved.

Disagreements over the routing of the downtown loop have caused at least five postponements. Frank Y. Hardy, city traffic engineer, suggests the route go south from Ohio street in Delaware to Maryland, north in Pennsylvania to Washington, east to Alabama, north to Ohio and thence back east on Ohio and over the present route. If final approval of this route is opposed, Harry Reid, president of Indianapolis Railways, 'lnc., said the utility might withdraw their petition for trackless trolleys and install diesel buses. Whether we have trackless trolleys or diesel buses, the people of the Eastside will be glad to see the old, noisy street cars go. Many a slow thinker gets an undeserved reputation for being a “conservative.”
