Republican Women To Convene In Kansas City

To prepare plans for intensive participation in the 1946 congressional and state campaigns, 100 Republican women leaders from 30 states will convene in Kansas City December 13 and 14th for a regional conference under foe auspices of the National Federation of Women’s Republican Clubs. Mrs. W. Glenn Suthers of Chicago, federation president, will preside at sessions held in the Muehlebach Hotel. Joining the Federation’s Advisory Board of 40 members in the formulation of campaign plans will be national committeewomen and state vice-chairmen from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, lowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, Arkansas and Texas. In addition, ten members from state federation boards in Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, lowa and Illinois have been invited.

Several of the conference participants will come directly to Kansas City from the Republican National Committee meeting in Chicago. These include Miss Marion E. Martin, assistant chairman of the national committee; its two women vice-chairmen, Mrs. Horace Sayre of Ardmore, Okla., and Mrs. Katharine Kennedy Brown of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Jessie Williamson, California’s committeewoman and federation vice president. The two-day Kansas City meeting will be a working conference to be highlighted by a public dinner Thursday, December 13, in conjunction with the Jackson County Republican Committee.

Programs Planned For Christmas On Monument Circle

More than 50 outstanding musical organizations in Indianapolis and neighboring communities will participate in a series of 18 Christmas programs on Monument Circle according to plans completed by the Indianapolis Municipal Christmas Committee. Appropriate Christmas decorations already are in place and special lighting effects will add beauty and dignity to the series of entertainments planned in observance of this first Christmas season after years of war. Each program will include one minute of prayer. Gen. Robert H. Tyndall, mayor of Indianapolis, will issue his Christmas proclamation at the opening of the series on Monday night, December 17, at 7:30 p. m. Additional programs will be held daily through Saturday at 12:05, 5 and 7:30 p. m., with special entertainment on Sunday at 2:30 and 6:30 p. m., as the concluding attractions. Members of the program committee are E. O. Snethen, Ralph Wright, Mrs. Lucille Eddington, Roger Bean, Ed Pierre, Emory Sharp, Miss Ruth Smith and K. Mark Cowen.
