CATHOLICS TO CONDUCTCAMPAIGN Will Collect Canned Foods For Needy Catholics throughout the Indianapolis Archdiocese will conduct a campaign to collect canned foods for the needy of Europe and the Far East. The effort, to be held from December 9 through December 16, has the special blessing of Pope Pius xn. All Catholic schools, together with the 141 churches and missions, will participate. The Archdiocese covers 38 counties in Indiana. The Very Rev. August Fussenegger, Indianapolis Archdiocesan Catholic Charities director, is chairman of the campaign, having been appointed by Archbishop Joseph E. Ritter. This important relief drive is a part of a nation-wide campaign being made by the National Catholic Welfare Conference. Since the beginning of World War 11, the conference has conducted, or participated in, nine relief efforts, collecting a total of 43,000,000 pounds of food and clothing, valued at an estimated $35,000,000.
