.. A, MAN loses • the right -r rtf his 1 mind.’his friends put h-Li in a state institution, but u-hen a whole people start turning imbecile they commit thrm- ' to the tender mercies of government In one sentence, that’s what 1 think about the socalled Full Employment Bill, already passed bv the Senate and scheduled foi early consideration by the House If ou> congressmen fasten upon the federal government an obligation to provide jobs for everybody. they will be saying, ‘We represent a commonwealth of incompetents, unable to take care of themselves." America’s vast resources, her enormous productive capacity, trained minds, skilled hands and huge markets will amount to nothing if our people lose their initiative, selfreliance and self-starters. A Gift GOD in His wisdom of God metes out privileges and duties in proportion. No man and no nation can revel long in liberty and shirk the responsibilities that go with it, for human freedom is a gift from above. Much responsibility for the future of mankind hangs on the American people; we may well be thankful that our liberties are many This is no time to recline in a political armchair What supports the idea that government ought to (or can) guarantee jobs for everybody? Answer: Warped notions brought to America by immigrants from the backward lands of Europe and Asia. Many such “cases" can’t quit thinking that citizens

’ FIDELITY CLASS Friday evening, November 2, the Fidelity Class of Speedway Christian Church held a wiener roast at Eagle Creek, but due to rain the party was forced to retreat from the woods and continue the wiener roast in the home of Agnes and Edith Spencer. Even an indoor picnic can be fun and it certainly turned out i that way. Those attending this meeting were Bernice Miller, Jim and Betty Nay, Maryann and K. O. Jamison, Bob Huber, Rev. and Mrs. Thorne, Betty Jo Often, Anna Laura Bills, Alice Powell, Marjoria Reene, Agnes and Geeg Spencer, Donna Ruth Couch, Evelyn and Tommy (Byrd, Zenna .Carmichael and Thora Feltis.

must serve the state instead of the state serving the citizens. They actually seem to imagine rulers think better than other people. Quiet ALIEN philosophies. Enemy spreading quietly through schools, playgrounds and market places, have poisoned the minds of American boys and girls under their parents’ .very eyes. It is a quiet enemy that long has warranted attention . . . When our Soldiers landed on Guadalcanal they met loud Japanese attack from land, sea and sky. and overcame it. But tropical insects did more damage, quietly. How parallel to Guadalcanal has been the defense of representative, constitutional government on the home front. Deafening weapons of the Axis powers failed to destroy this republic. American ingenuity, sharpened by hope of achievement; American skill, whetted on ambition to advance: America’s power to produce, fused in the furnace of open competition: These won the noisy battles. But the same things will not cure the plague of poisoned minds. That’s another problem Helplessness, dependence on the state and false philosophies get in the blood like tropica) fever If it has penetrated to Capitol Hill, if we enact laws favorable to the malady, then the case is serious indeed. The fate of the Full Employment Bill will determine whether the United States is becoming imbecile

Any returned service men will be welcomed into this group and its activities. TEN NEW BUSSES DUE IN NOVEMBER Indianapolis Railways has received word from the Mack Mfg. Company that ten new 41 passenger motor coaches, ordered last year, will arrive in Indianapolis during November for service in this city. These buses, costing approximately $14,000 each, will greatly augment the war-torn fleet of vehicles now in operation here, and are part of the $3 % million dollar post-war modernization program of Indianapolis Railways. First delivery of the ten bus order is expected to be made on November 11, and the remainder will follow a few days thereafter, Mack Company officials say. These buses are part of the 214 new vehicles, that Indianapolis Railways proposes to purchase during the immediate postwar years, provided adequate financing can be arranged with which to buy them. Modern in every respect, the new buses are gasoline powered and have many devices for passenger safety and comfort. An important feature is automatic clutches which eliminate gear shifting, thus adding to passenger comfort by making possible a smoother ride. Drivers of vehicles will also benefit because automatic clutches add to the ease of of operation.
