School News Speedway schools opened on Tuesday with an increase in enrollment over a year ago. First day enrollment in the kindergarten was 49 in grades 1 thru 6 was 382, in graded 7 and 8 was *92 and in grades 9 thru 12 was 167. The total enrollment was slightly above a year ago.

It is important that kindergarten students enroll at the beginning of the term. Parents with children who will be five years of age on or before Oct 31 should contact the school at once. There are two sections of kindergarten, one meeting in the morning and one in the afternoon. There is no fee for attendance to residents of Speedway.

New individual tables and chairs have been placed in Miss Knetzer’s primary room. These table-type desks are like the ones used in many present-day modern schools. Don’t forget the football game at Greenwood Friday, Sept 14. The game starts at 8:00 p. m. Several Speedway teachers are planning to work toward advanced degrees during the current semester.

Groover And Reich Vows Are Pledged Miss Donaldeen Groover became the birde of Orban H. Reich at 7:30 o’clock, Thursday, Aug. 30, in the Speedway -Christian Church. The Rev. Howard E. Anderson officiated. The bride is ’the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard B. Groover, 5055 W. 14th Street, and the bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Reich, 6565 E. 14th Street. Entering the church with her father, the bride wore a candlelight satin gown. The dress was fashioned with a fitted bodice, sweetheart neckline accented with seed pearls, long sleeves and a gathered skirt forming a train. A tiara of seed pearls held her ivory illusion veil, and she carried white roses and gardenias centered with an orchid.

Miss Betty Joan Nay, the bride’s only attendant, wore a yellow taffeta frock. Her flowers were Talisman roses and she had matching flowers in her hair. I The bridegroom’s attendants were Robert Schofield, best man,' and Leland Reich, Jene Nelson, Donald Brewer and Hugh Stewart, ushers. There was a reception in the Groover home, after which, the couple left for a wedding trip. They will be at home after Sept IS at 2926 E. 19th Street.
