Free Classes Offered By Hie Red Cross They Are Timely And Educational Now is the time to take advantage of the many free educational classes offered by the Indianapolis Red Cross. Organize a class among your friends and workers—Red Cross will take over from there. Here is a list of classes:

To Relieve the Nurse Shortage, Organize a Class in Home Nursing. Qualified graduate nurses act as instructors teaching the simple techniques of home nursing. A “must” course to guard the health of members of the family endangered by the continued shortage of doctors and nurses. This shortage will last long after the war is over. Length of courses: 12 hours for the short course; 24 hours for the standard course. Are You Disturbed by Food Shortages, the “Sameness” of Available Foods, a Lade of Knowledge of What Is Best for Your Family? Take a course in

nutrition. The longer the war lasts the less food there will be for use of the civilian population. Less food endangers health if proper nutritional practices are not followed. Red Cross nutrition courses teach the principles of sound nutrition. Courses are taught by professional nutrition graduates. Applicants for Chapter’s Canteen, Dietitian Aide Corps and for nutrition aides must have taken the standard nutrition course. Length of courses: 12 hours for the Victory course; 20 hours for the standard course. House Cleaning and Its Accident Hazards Make This the Right Time to Investigate the Home Safety Courses Offered by Red Cross. Home accidents increase tremendously during a war period, according to life insurance companies’ reports. Knowledge of the most common accident hazards in the home is the answer to this increasing problem. Length of courses; 12 hours, t For information on Red Cross free educational classes. Clean Up And Fix Up This Week Trucks Will Start Saturday To Pick Up Trash Clean your home, yard, street and alley this week and make Indiapapolis “The City Beautiful.” Also salvage paper, tin cans and everything the government can use. Beautify your yard and start your Victory garden. This is Fire Prevention Week, so clean off those stairs and get everything out of the attic that you feel you will no longer need. An old saying, “If you can find no use for it during one year, get rid of it.” Put trash for city collection in containers that the men can handle. Tie twigs and branches in bunches of convenient size for handling. City trucks will make extra collections, starting on April 14. Come on, let’s go!
