ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH Rev. L. A. Lindemann Pastor Sunday Masses: 6:60 o’clock Weekday Masses 7:00 o’clock Oni the third Sunday of the muonth which is next Sunday, April I&th, the young people of St. 'Christopher will receive Holy Communion at the 8:30 o’clock Mlassi. Mrs. Frank Medenwald!, General Chairman of the Chicken Dinner held at St. Christopher last Saturday night, wishes to’ thank all her Co-Chairmen, the ladies of her committee, as well as some of the ladies on (the October ooonlmdttee for helping to make this affair so successful, socially as well as financially. She also wishes to thaink Mrs. Thomas Marshall, “Charlie” of the Speedway Pood Mart, and last but not least Father Lindemann for their help in making the chicken dinner possible. The name of Mrs. Herman Medenwald was omitted from the listing of the ladies on the committee. The winners of the Bonds were Mr. Joseph Rosner and Miiss Theresa Grande. Mr. Rosner donated his bond to the ladies. Mrs. Doris Atkinson, President of the Altar Society, wishes to join with aill the officers in thanking everyone who helped 1 to gather in so many donations toward this project. The reports from Coleman Hospital are that Mrs. Doris Atkinson is getting along nicely. Her room number is 261. A letter was received by all the members of St. Christopher —that is as Father had their correct address —during (the past week, inviting them' to attend an informal meeting with Monsignor Doyle on Sunday night, April 16th, at B P. M. in the Parish HalL However, if anyone was missed with the letter, Father Lindemann wishes -them to know that they are invited just the same. Our Holy Father, Pope Pius XU, has 'honored Father Doyle by conferring upon him the dignity of Monsignor with the title of Very Reverend. Since Father Doyle has been associated 1 with' St. Christopher Parish almost from its found l * ing, this honor in a certain sense reverts also to our parish. A short program has been planned. Light refreshments will be . served. You may bring along the chdfldrem Each family in (the parish should have some of its members—or all of its members—attend this celebration next Sunday evening. ✓ Don’t forget the ladies an their KuSrhuSge Sale which is to be held April 24th and 25th. They gave up their Rummage Sale last .fall in order to send everything they coufld collect to the Clothing Drive. They realize that there is another drive April 22d, but they feel that there will be enough for both. There are many things anyway that the National Clothing Drive cannot use that the ladies will be happy 'to have and sell at (their Rummage Sale—such as women’s hats, bric-a-brac, pans, ddlshes, window shades—or what have you. Mrs. Louis Carlsen is Chairman. Call her for details. The smaller things do count—recently a tabernacle made of aromatic cedarwood, sheet copper, 'brass and steel, designed and' executed by Sister Feline, O. P., of Rosary College, was presented to the Vaughan General Hospital at Hines, Illinois by the chaplain. Maj. E. J. DeMiars. “My soul shall praise the Lord even to death”—Ecclesiastlcus 51:8. SUB DEB NEWS The main subject at our meetings lately has been our dance which we are calling the Jinx Dance. Full details are given in this paper. Be sure to come. You and your partner may be the “Unlucky Couple.” Another is that of the name of our club. We have decided to change it from that of the "Phi Omega Gamma” club. As yet, there have not been enough names suggested to vote from. Last Saturday we fixed up Mary Arm Renard’s basement for our Sub-Deb room, “for members and their guests only.” Well, we’ll see you April 28! Sub-Deb Reporter, Jerry McDaniels.

Needlework Guild To Assist the United Clothing Campaign During the month of April there will be a United Clothing Campaign. The need for this clothing is too great even to be imagined by those of us in this country, and the Needlework Guild will take its part in this nation-wide plan to make this free distribution to all devastated countries. Even if you have already given, would it not be possible to find one or two other articles of clothing that might be spared? Winter andi summer clothing are needed, dean, but need not be pressed. No evening dothes or slippers can be used. Bedding and good fabric of one or more yards are desirable.
If you wish your garments to be collected, call any of the following members before April 20: Mrs. Renard, Be. 4378-R; Mrs. Dunne, Be. 1360-R; Mrs. Bills, Be. 3665-M; Mrs. Emigholz, Be. 1654 J; Mrs. Sanders, Be. 0617-R; Mrs. Heuser, Be. 3693-W; Mrs. Henderson, Be. 1774-M. “Musk For Our Wounded” Drive Starts P ■
In reply to a request of the U.S. War Department to continue equipping hospital ships and trains, and filling the needs of chaplains for record kits, the National Federation of Musk Clubs is sponsoring a “Music for Our Wounded” drive. The director of personnel in New Guinea said that music has helped to keep up the moral and mental health of many of our boys in foreign service. Music therapy is a big factor in treating the mental disorders of tired, discouraged and wounded boys. Speedway school sold enough war stamps to purchase a jeep, but as yet Speedway has not been able to buy a ship and we probably will not be able to do so, but we believe that with united effort of organizations, musical and otherwise, schools, churches, clubs and individuals, we can pay for the musical equipment for a shjp.
Musical equipment for a ship includes a guitar, banjo, ukulele, violin, 24 oc&rinoes, and ocarino quartet, song books, four phonographs and replacement parts, 100 popular records, an album of classical records, and an album of religious records. The complete cost of this equipment is $230.98. •Donations collected after the Lions’ Club Minstrel performances amounted to $49.50. Thank you, Speedway Lions Club! The 6. C. D. Auxiliary has donated $15.00 toward this worthy cause, bringing the present donations toj the total of $64.50. This is a good start.
Our gift to the boys will be tagged “Speedway.” We know Jhai every orgiu it vidual will want to hike a part in Speedway’s contribution to equip a ship with musk. If you wish to make a personal contribution, fill out the coupon below and send it, with your donation to Mrs. Ganz Hammer, Generali Chairman for the Speedway Drive, 2021 N. Lyndhurst Drive, Speedway, Indiana.
