Speedway Flyer, Volume 13, Number 39, Indianapolis, Marion County, 30 March 1945 — Page 3

I am trying to find the name of a soldier from Speedway who is in Company C, 28th Infantry, A.P.O. No. 8, somewhere in Germany. I had a letter from my nephew, Pfc. Samuel M. Stigler, 19, of South Bend, Ind., who stamps: “I have a buddy from Indianapolis. He lives in Speedway. He and I have to stick together.” My nephew was reported killed in action March 6. If I can get in touch with this “Buddy” maybe he can tell us how it happened and it would help if we could contact someone who was with our boy at that time. Madge Stigler, 1015 N. Delaware St., Indianapolis 2, Ind.

Not all the entertainment furnished the GI Joes eomes from stare and screen stars. Corp. Viro Capesio, Philadelphia, does his share with accordion solos near Fraimbois, France, to keep up the morale of his overseas baddies. While hundreds of troopers have riven their services to the USO to entertain the uniform forces, the visits to isolated units are rather rare. Most units have their own musical Instruments and offer instructions in many cases.
