TRANSIT SYSTEM ISSUES NEW MAP Free Copies Are Available To The Public The 1945 edition of the Indianapolis Railways system map, which is issued each year for free distribution to the public, is now available according to an announcement by the transit company. Maps may be obtained at the Circle Bus Station, supervisor’s booths at Washington and Illinois streets, and Alabama and Massachusetts avenues, the train caller’s desk in the Terminal Station and at the Indianapolis Railways Service Department, 906 Traction Terminal Building. The 1945 maps are pocket size so that they may be easily carried in purses. Included, in addition to a map of the complete city transit system, is a schedule showing the times of owl buses, a frequency of service schedule on all lines, and a tabulation gives the times of first and last vehicles on all lines. Another feature of the may is a street guide by which any street in the city can be located. Attractively printed in five colors, the maps have been very popular with the public in previous years when thousands of copies have been distributed by Indianapolis Railways.

Fast Work Less than three hours after the first soldier touched the beach at Saidor in the Southwest Pacific, a Red Cross field director dispensed 240 gallons of cocoa and hundreds of cookies. Just To Remind You Children have more needs of models than of critics. Odd, but it’s the people already stuck up that we’d like to paste.

WACs DRIVE, REPAIR ARMY AMBULANCES Members or the Woman’s Army Corps drive many of the Army ambulances in use in this country. These Wacs do more than chauffeur the ambulances. They wash the vehicles, grease them, change the tires, and make minor repairs. And they raise the morale of their soldier passengers by their cheering smiles and solicitude. Wacs assigned to the medical department work as surgical and medical technicians, helping medical officers and Army nurses in the wards of big Army hospitals. Wacs work in the hospital laboratories, too, making blood counts and performing other important assignments. Some Army hospitals have WAC receptionists, clerks, stenographers, and librarians. The Wacs are proving a big help to Army wounded fighting men. In all, Wacs perform 239 different kinds of Army jobs on the air forces, ground forces, and service forces.
