WHY SAVE TIN CANS Because It Protects \ United States military regulations authorize approximately six pounds of food every day for every soldier, sailor, marine, and coast guardsman. Nothing is so important as the health of our men. Their food must be kept pure. Tin is the best protective covering for food. Tin-coated steel containers for food withstand shock, heat, cold, contamination, climatic changes, storage hazards?
Abroad, almost all food for the army arrives in tin and steel At sea, every sailor, marine, and coast guardsman eats food protected by tin. Our army, navy, marine corps, and coast guard are the best fed in the world. Tin makes that possible. TIN “KEEPS THE POWDER DRY”—The fighting efficiency of our soldiers depends upon their having dry powder for their guns. It takes 500 million salvaged tin cans each year to supply sufficient, tin to solder the ammunition boxes of our armed forces. TIN PROTECTS HEALTH!

State Well Over Goal In Recent War Bond Drive
American Legion posts oyer Indiana have purchased 152 MinuteMan flags for as many schools in their campaign to bring every school group up to the 90 per cent mark in war stamp buying, Robert H. Wyatt, director of education of the Indiana War Finance Committee, announced today.
The legion drive, begun at the start of the Sixth War Loan on Armistice Day, 1944, will continue, according to Neal Grider, Indianapolis, state war bond chairman for the service men's organization. l . "We know that the lesson of thrift is a good one for Hoosier boys and girls, and we know, too, that they are interested in what will happen after the war and enthusiastic about what they can do to earn peace,” said Mr. Grider.
Final totals for Hoosiers in the Sixth War Loan showed the state 53 per cent over its $239,000,000 goal with approximately $365,000,000 in purchases during the November-December drive for savings, Eugene C. Pulliam, state chairman of the-. War Finance Committee, announced. them, are given an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D. C., to take final examinations, and the boy and girl who are top-ranking receive Westinghouse science scholarships of $2,400 and S6OO a year for four years.
Fifty-two per cent of 83,353 American high school students are in favor of lowering the voting age to 18 years. These figures were completed by the Institute of Student Opinion, a national survey organization sponsored by Scholastic Magazine, of which Tech is a member. These results are far different from a poll given in May, 1943, in which the majority was opposed. Teen-agers are often more swift in changing their opinions than the older folks. This change of opinion is undoubtedly due to the war, and the fact that Georgia has already started this lowering of the vot= ing age.
Tech is proud of its basketball team—best in the city and Seventh best in the state, according to sports reviewers. Not only the boys are interested, but the girls, too. For them a basketball tournament will soon be open, for those who are interested in playing on Tuesdays and Fridays in the girls’ gymnasium. Girls who play an outstanding game will receive points for honor day awards.
