ValnaWp Training Offered By Navy
An education costing approximately t is impossible to receive through any civilian agency or university is what the Navy offers those who qualify for Radar training, according to an announcement made by Lt Commander W. A Chapman, Jr., Officer in Charge of Navy Recruiting and Induction for Indiana, as he issued an urgent call for men to take this training. The recruiting officer explained that security forbids description of the details of the training but he did mention the fields the training covered—Radar, Television, and electronics. The Navy needs iot these trained men have increased with the result of recent research and the tremendous expansion of the ever growing fleet. He described the opportunity as “the chance of a lifetime” for men who have aptitude to qualify for election to the Radar schools of the Navy. To determine this aptitude the Navy Recruiting Stations all over the State are prepared to give the Eddy Eest. This is a test that deals with mathematic electricity, shop practice and the like, and is designed to determine an individual’s natural inclinations and background for Radar training. Men 17 years old and those 38 to 50 are eligible to volunteer for service in the Navy and try for Radar. Those men who are found fit for service in both the Army and the Navy through selective Service pre-induction examination are also in line to take the Eddy Test which may place them in the Navy at a rate of seaman first class and give them approximately one year’s training. At the successful completion of this schooling they are graduated as a second class petty officer. Full information may be gained at the Navy Recruiting Station, Fourth floor, Federal Bldg.
