The superintendent’s High school committee sponsored a dance at convocation this morning. The committee has purchased several new records for use with the electric victrola purchased by last year’s senior class. Plans are going forward to have 15 night dances this year in addition to the convocation dances. * * * The Business Education Club elected officers this week as follows: Harriette Elder, president; Norma Melson, vice president; Georgia Foster, secretary; Zenna Carmichael, treasurer, and Joyce Williams, publicity chairman. These classes meet on Monday afternoons from 3 to 5 p. m., and >n Monday night from 1 7 to 9 j. m., until the course is completed. High school teachers will take the course during November. N. Grease a baking dim holding about 5 cups. Cook cabbage 10 minutes, or until tender in boiling water and H teaspoon salt. Drain and save liquid. There should be 1 cup, if not, add water. Melt 2 tablespoons ham fat in saucepan. Blend in flour, 1 teaspoon salt and the pepper. Stir in liquid off cabbage. Stir and boil 1 minute. Add cabbage and milk. Lot stand. Mix together diced ham.and potatoes. Put in bottom of greased baking dish, then cover with creamed cabbage. Sprinkle top with mixture of com flake crumbs, remaining 1 tablespoon melted ham fat and H teaspoon salt. Bake 20 minutes, or until bubbly hot. Serve at once. Serves 4. ★3 cups cut green beans, diced carrots or celery of a mixture of these vegetables cm replace the cabbage if cooking time is increased to 20 minutes for begins or carrots. ★★Bologna, canned luncheon meat or left-over roast beef, lamb, pork or veal can also be used.

Dave’s Grille To Be Closed On Sundays In response to many- requests, Dave’s Grille Announced recently that it would be open on Sunday. Now, Mr. Pond has announced that he must discontinue this Sunday opening. “We regret that we must remain closed on Sun.-, day,” said Dave, “But we cannot get enough merchandise to serve a full menu seven days a week.” The owner of the Grille asked, us to express his sincere regrets for the necessity of this decision for he knows that it will mean * disappointment to many people. The shortage of good foodstuffs makes it impossible to keep Sunday hours right now. Therefore, until further notice, Dave’s Grille will close each Sunday morning at 3 o’clock and re-open on Monday morning at 6 o’clock. Another Letter From The Football Fan Last week boys ran into a regular “Tartar” in the Silent Hoosiers Or Deaf School team. Sorfy to say we came out on the short end of a 19 to 0 count. Well, boys, you can’t win ’em all, so let’s go and take Plainfield tonight. By the way, folks, it’s just an easy jaunt out to Plainfield. You will see a good game and I’m sure the teams will appreciate your support. Now, for next Friday! On the 20th, at Speedway Stadium, the Speedway team is matched against the Beech Grove team. Take two teams, evenly matched, add the existing rivalry between the two schools, and you have a “whale of a game” in the making. This will be one of the really highspots of Speedway’s athletic season. You cannot afford to miss this one. Now is the time to make your plans tc attend. Get up a football party and attend this game. Your friends will say, “Why don’t v e do this more often?” So long, Fans, I’m off to the Plainfield game.
