K.,is spending a nine-day leave from San Francisco with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Roberts, of 4945 W. 14th Street. Steele has a new assignment as soon as he returns to Treasure Island. Cpl./T. James Bratton, former-' ly of Speedway, is now in France. James tells us he was seasick going over but would be perfectly willing to go across again and be seasick to keep the war on that side. It looked to him like everything in France was ruined. Yet the French people were very kind and gracious to the Yankee boys.
Gene Bratton has transferred to the Air Transport Command and he is stationed at Mataher Field, Calif., near Sacramento. He is now going through a processing and likes it all very much, thinking he will be stationed there for some time. He tells all his Speedway friends hello. Don Graham and Cpl. Bob Williams attended the Jack Benny show in Hawaii recently and more fun! Cpl. Albert N. Webb said in a letter Monday to his parents that he is now in Germany and that he had helped search some of the German prisoners and that they ■offered no resistance at all. His division is not receiving the welcome in Germany that they got in Belgium and France. He is fine and still, traveling. Mrs. T. J. Huber, 1945-M.
SUB-DEBNEWS The Phi Omega Gamma SubDebs of Speedway attended a chili supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Williams, 5214 W. 15th Street, last Saturday, evening. The other guests were Nancy Covell, Annabelle Dickerspn, Phyllis Flin, Jean Guinn, Shirley Graesch, Janette Holder, Patty Ludwig, Jerry McDaniels, Maryann Renard, Mildred Rosner and Inez Sommers. After several servings of chili and an abundance of ice cream and cake the group proceeded to downtown Indianapolis. We teen-agers became very observing in a signature hunt and gazed upon the characters before us, asking the queerest ones for their signatures. This surplus energy was soon exhausted after two hours of various approaches and startled expressions. In record time we were back at Joy Schoenewey’s where some of the girls gave forth with jive, and other blitzing the latest dirt. Prizes were awarded to Janette Holder, Barbara Reene and Marylou Chapman for being the first group to complete the hunt. We wish to express our sincere appreciation to Mrs. Williams and Joyce for showing us a supercolossal time.
