BIRTHDAY PARTY GIVEN IN HONOR OF RICHARD LIVINGSTON Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Livingston entertained Friday afternoon at .their home, 4975 W. 11th Street, in honor of the twelfth birthday of their, son, Richard Julian. A number of his friends were present for the occasion and the time allotted for the party quickly sped by with games and contests. The house was -decorated for the party with cut/flowers and festoons of crepe baper, usings* color scheme of pink and green, while a large birthday cake bearing twelve green candles occupied a position of prominence at the table. Those gathered at the table sang “Happy Birthday,” and were accompanied by Patty McCloskey at the piano. Favors were lead pencils to which were attached small American flags. Refreshments of ice cream, cake and punch were served the following: Barbara Gwinn, Don Crawford, Ruth Ann Maynard, Jimmy McDaniels, Richard Poley, Evelyn Sutphin, Patty McCloskey, Fred Wingert, David Beck, Billy Brandt, Charles Cantwell, Billy Bard, Norma Curry, Mae DeLapp, and Robert Campbell. Those invited sending gifts, but unable to be present were Margie McDaniels and Ray Stewart. Julian was the recipient of many splendid gifts, and those attending pronounced the party a most enjoyable one and left wishing Julian many happy birthdays.
IF YOU ARE A MECHANIC READ THIS Indianapolis Railways is in need of experienced men to serve in its modern shops for repair work on street cars, trackless trolleys and motor coaches. Ittiese jobs are permanent, the p#y is good, and working conditions, are healthful and pleasant. Mechanics to repair engines and mechanical parts of the motor coach fleet are especially needed. Men with general garage experience can qualify. Car body men, with experience in metal and wood work, are also wanted. Upholsterers, who have done leather goods work, and painters, who are prepared to do sign and letter painting, are also urged to apply. The transit firm emphasizes that no applicants can be considered except those who can qualify under the War Manpower Commission regulations. These jobs are attractive with a good future. Employees receive a bonus, are granted free transportation on the transit system, receive vacations with pay and can participate in the company’s insurance plan.
