St. Christophers Catholic Church Rev. L. A. Lindemann Sunday Masses: 6:00 o'clock - 10:00 o’clock (High Mass) Weekday Masses r _. 7:00 A. M. Daily On the fifth Sunday of the month, no special group at<St. Christopher receives Holy Communion. Everyone should try to receive Holy Communion Sunday, offering up their Communions to God in petition for a speedy Victory and the return of our boys and girls over there. The hostesses for the weekly Card Party to be held on Thursday evening, February 3, at eight o’clock in St. Christopher’s Social Hall are Mesdames Mervin Arthur, Bruce Atkinson, Al Aulbach, Charles Wolfa, Earl Wiseman, Bertha Wilson and J. M. Whitmore. There will be other parties on February 10 and 17, and then no more until after Lent, so if you're planning to attend some of these parties, you’d better hurry. There was a nice crowd at the first and seconr party, and it ies hoped that the Parish and its friends will show an interest in these affairs and encourage the ladies who are in charge. Sunday evening, January 30, Father Lindemann will entertain the Trustees and their wives, and the three new Trustees, at a chicken dinner in the Parish house. The retiring Trustees are Messrs. Louis Gropp, Peter Matich and George Arnold. The three Trustees who will continue to serve are Messrs. Al Aulbach, Raymond Vupillat and Wilbur Reedy. The retiring Trustees have not completed their choice for new members at this time. On Wednesday evening, February 2, will be held the regular meeting of the Men’s Club in St. Christopher’s social room. The next regular meeting of the Altar Society will be held on Wednesday evening, February 9—the second Wednesday. The hostesses for this meeting will be Mesdames Walter Klintworth, James Keating, William Kaufman, Frank Joyce, Wesley Johnston, Joseph Etter, Bernard Rosner, W. J. Hurst, Mary Ellen Herring, Henry Kerchner, Joseph King, Catherine Elizabeth Kirkoff, Arthur Eisenhart, Casemire Eva Konrad and Clarence Ledwith. The Fourth War Bond continues on. Have you bought your extra Bond yet? A story of a news commentator on the air late Sunday night gave us all something to “shoot” for. At a community in Alaska the call was made for the sale of bonds. Everything had been explained to them—what their bonds purchased—and so oru/There was a conference,And.the leader of the community fund r said*that they wotfld buy $15,000.00 worth. But they were” reminded that this sum was all they had, and that they might need some money for sickness and the like. There was another conference, and the leader returned, “We buy $15,000.00. Uncle Sam he good to us. We buy $15,000.00.” Prayer is the great means of Grace. And it is plain from Our Lady’s words to Saint Mechtilde that no prayer is dearer to her than the Hail Mary. This Saint once addressed the Mother of God during Mass: “O holy Mother of God, it in my power to greet thee with the sweetest salutation ever conceived by human heart, I would be most happy to do so’.” And it is written that the Holy Virgin replied in a vision that no one could salute her with sweeter words than with the Hail Mary. When we read Ezechiel 35: 4—“ l will destroy thy cities, and thou shalt be desolate; and thou shalt know that I am the Lord”— we think of many things that are going on all around us. Nora Bray
