BETTERMENT ASSOCIATION NEWS For • Bailor Speedway
All members of the Speedway Betterment Association and other residents of Speedway are urged to attend the next meeting to be held Tuesday, September 7, 1943, at the Town Hall. • The time will be 8:00 P. M. Some members have expressed the desire to discuss at the meeting the recent Town Board ordinance restoring angle parking on Main Street in Speedway. Anyone who drives his car knows that the view of the driver is definitely obstructed when he backs out of an angle parking space. As a safety measure this type of parking was abolished some time ago on Main St. That action at the time had the support and approval of the Indiana State Police and various safety councils. The restoration of angle parking Is obviously not a safety measure, neither does it appreciably increase Ihe amount of parking space. A reliable survey showed that only “five more cars could be accommodated by substituting angle parking ifci parallel. However, the Town Board must have acted in accordance with what they thought was the will of the residents of Speedway. The question now arises as to whether or not all of the residents of Speedway have had an opportunity to express themselves on this matter. It has been indicated that a hearing will be held some-

time in the near future in regard to this ordinance. Everyone who is interested should watch for the date of this hearing. The angle parking ordinance has been passed/ and unless the Town Board members are shown otherwise, they will naturally assume that the citizens of Speedway desire this type of parking. Everyone interested in the parking problem and other civic problems of Speedway will find that the Speedway Betterment Association is a good source of information and an effective method of expressing the will of Speedway residents. All citizens of Speedway are welcome to be at the Town Hall on Tuesday, September 7th„ at 8:00 P. M. for the next meeting. Bob Keating, Publicity Chairman
