A new plastic made from California redwood it being used In the manufacture of steeling wheels far trucks, busses, tractors, and other mobile equipment. A San Francisco lumbar company developed the idea of wing waste pieces—slab aides, end pieces, and bark, all previously burned—to produce a pulp which is baled and shipped in carload lots to a company in the East where 7,000 of the finished redwood plastic steering wheels are turned out in an eight-hour working shift. A steel wire skeleton is used to pre-form the Stic compound in a cold mold. minutes at hot mold compression at 380 degrees -F. are required to complete the molding operations. The wheel la then buffed to remove mold marks, and painted. Only steer'and'heJfer carcasses may be accepted for boning and packaging as fresh boneless beef for our armed forces. These carcasses must grad# Good or Commercial. The weight range for the steer carcomes to 450 to 1,190 pounds and for heifer carcasses from 450 to 500 pounds.
