The hostesses tor this meeting will be Mesdames Louie Carlsen, Joseph Etter, Thomae Marshall, Frank Maloney, John Crehan, Mervin Arthur, William Fogarty, Henry, Kerchner, Bernard Rosner, Richard Swift and Jesse Stewart. Every lady of the Parish should make an effort to attend these meetings, because whether active or not, every lady of St. Christopher is a member of the Altar Society. A large attendance is encouraging to the officers. After the regular business meeting, there is always a social hour, and an opportunity for the new members of the Parish to get acquainted. The ladies who will work -on the June Party—Bake Sale—or whatever they decide to have—and which will be announced later—are Committee Chairman,-Mrs. Francis Stamm; co-chair-man, Mrs. Frank Medenwald; assisted by Mesdames Frank Joyce, Joseph Gelman, Eugene Renard, Gordon Sims, Lawrence Searles, Paul Nester, James Rardon, Frank Bozick, Frank Callahan, Thomas Gutmann, Thomas Kane, Moran, Harlen Stoneburner and James Breen. This war is terrible, we all know, but we also know that it is 7 bringing many people back to God, and many more closer to Him. We read in a little magazine Just the other day of a private who was awarded the Purple Heart after he had been severely wounded in Guadalcanal returning home to spend Easter with his parents. He had been home only three hours when he was found attending church services with his parents, and when a reporter asked him to make a statement, he said: “I owe my life to Divine Providence. Any soldier who lives through the hell of those tropic Jungles, sleeping in mud and water three hours a night and fighting Japs the remainder of the time, will never forget his maker. It is to be hoped that the lessons learned in the foxholes and on life ralfs will not only remain in the hearts of those who have endured the terrible hardships, but that they will be passed on to those at home. - " Sacred Heart of Jesus PfVy forms! «—Nora Bray.

Special Notice The Spedeway School Board has had several protests from persons living near the athletic field because of the noise caused by model air-planes being flown near their homes. There have also been protests because the athletic field was not available to students and because of the danger when a plane comes loose from the wire as has happened in one or two cases. In answer to these protests the school board has voted that the Speedway School Grounds cannot be used except by the permission of the school authorities. Signs to this effect are being posted on the athletic field. This ruling has been made in order that the model airplane situation can be brought under control. . „ The school board solicits the cooperation of all Speedway residents in order to make our school a better and safer place.
