St. Christophers Catholic Church Rev. L. A. Lindemann ~ Pastor Sunday Masses: 6:00 o’clock Weekday Masses 7:00 A. M. Daily The men of the Parish will receive Holy Communion Sunday at the eight-thirty o’clock Mass. Tuesday, September Bth, is the Feast Day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mrs. Clarence Sharp and Miss Verda Marie Kaufman were the seventh and eighth winners in the Merchandise Club. Wednesday, September 9th, will be the regular meeting of the Altar Society. Now that vacations are almost over, it is hoped that everyone is home, and that a great number of the ladies will attend the meeting. These meetings are not only held to transact the business of the society, but a party is always planned for after the meeting. In this way, the new ladies of the Parish may become acquainted. So please, if you are new in the Parish, and if no one personally invites you, come to these meetings anyway. You are always more than welcome. They are for you, as well as the older members. There was no activity by the ladies in August, but they hope to have another Ladies Party in September. Begin to prepare yourselves for next Mission Sunday which is October 18th. Remember Catholic missions carry on throughout the world. Prepare now to help the Holy Father’s own Society for worldwide missions. Every Catholic should be a member of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. If you- are already a member, enroll a soldier or a sailor. When you enroll them in The Society for the Propagation of the Faith, you thereby assure them of a remembrance in 15,000 Holy Masses offered each year by needy missioners, and the membership offering goes to the Holy Father’s General Fund which supports the worldwide missions. They need not be Catholics to be entitled to this remembrance. The missions cannot stop dead in these difficult times. Now more than ever they need our help. Pray for the Missions! “For there is no respect of persons with God”—Romans 2:11. Jesus told the disciples to go forth and teach all nations. —Nora Bray.

Efforts Being Made To Start Kindegarten In Speedway
Efforts are being made to procure the establishment of a private kindegarten in Speedway since the possibility of a public kindegarten is out of the question for the duration of the war or until the new school building is achieved. We are all aware of the lack of available room in our community. The kindegarten teacher who is considering opening her school here, might be persuaded to purchase a home in Speedway in which to hold the kindegarten if enough parents are interested. If you have any children under six or have friends who might be

interested will you please fill out the form below and mail to Mrs. Frederick Scott, 1531 Allison St., or call Belmont 0868. If anyone has room or adequate space in their home which they might like to rent to be used in the morning hours from 9 until 12 o’clock, we would appreciate knowing about that. Kindegarten experience is important to the pre-school child because he learns to act and think in a group under the guidance of a trained teacher. If a child has this training the adjustment into regular school routine comes more naturally and easily.
Los Amigos News Continuing with the life of Jacob Mr. Cory gave us a very interesting lesson last Sunday. He pointed out that numerous things done by Jacob in those days would be considered rather unethical now due to man’s increase in knowledge and improvement in social intercourse. (Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them f or their heart studieth destruction and their lips talk of mischief. Prov. 24: 1-2.) Vacation time is about over and the children will be starting back to school. Let’s turn our thought to the school where we learn of true life and living—start back to Sunday School and Church if you have bepn “vacationing.” Next Sunday Mrs. Howard Anderson will bring us a lesson. Job’s Daughters Meeting Bethel No. 11, Order of Job’s Daughters will hold their regular meeting Saturday, September sth at 2:00 o’clock at the Lynhurst Masonic Temple. There will be a business meeting and the installation of a recorder and 4th Messenger.

Everyone has within him power to become much more than he is. Great untapped pools of power are buried deep in us all. Yet millions are tense, fear ridden, and depressed. Men and women of today need to learn how to unlock the infinite resources of spiritual power and thus become persons of purpose. Rev. Anderson returns to the pulpit next Sunday morning at the ninethirty service to preach on the subject: “The Power Of God Is In You.” Mr. Anderson announced that it will be his purpose to tell us how to get rid of fear and defeatism by using the power of .God within us! The soloist Sunday morning will be Mr. Jewell Ashby who will sing: “Eye Hath Not Seen” from Gaul’s “The Holy City.” Organ music for the service will include music from Beethoven’S Fifth Symphony and the familiar “Intermezzo” by Mascagni. The chancel choir will sing the responses for the service and will lead the congregational singing. You will be most welcome in this friendly church. Mrs. Martin has announced the dates for the first choir rehearsals for the fall season. The chancel choir will meet on Thursday night, September 10th, 7:30 o’clock. Save Your Papers! Many of you have been wondering why the Boy Scouts have not announced a paper sale. Well, so many /of the boys have been in camp, out of town, or working that it has been impossible to get a large enough group together to handle a sale. Now that school is about to start the boys will be unable to have their sale, so they are cancelling their usual summer gathering of papers. However, there will be a paper sale in Speedway soon! The P. T. A. has just announced that they will sponsor one right away. So—save your papers and watch for further announcement by the P.T.A in this paper.
