It is distributed every Friday to every home in Speedway. It is strictly a SPEEDWAY paper, and it is the ONLY strictly SPEEDWAY paper. It has been distributed in Speedway for over ten years. It is operated in a co-operative fashion—Speedway business men, the town officials, the school, both Speedway churches, all local clubs and civic groups, in fact the entire town of Speedway contributes to this community enterprise. Who’s Who In Speedway (By Leontine Webster) Harry Frank Bernhardt or, “Hap” as he is more familiarly known to Speedway is “Town Marshal.” “Hap’s” duties are varied and unlimited and he’s generally found most easily at 4:00 p. m. trying to keep Main street from becoming a runway for a Speedway race track! Mr. Bernhardt was born in Indianapolis, November 13, 1900, the son cf Frank and Mary Bernhardt He attended school in Indianapolis. On December 12, 1927, Mr. Bernhardt married Rose Gruber. Mr. and Mrs. Bernhardt have two children, Charles Thompson and Mrs. Mildred Knobel and a granddaughter Wilma Jean Thompson. Mr. Bernhardt has traveled in Canada and Eastern part of the United States. Thomas, 1833 Winton Ave., Supervisor in the Payroll and Insurance Department of the Indianapolis Power and Light Company and has lived in this city since 1936. We of the Speedway Betterment Association, Inc. think that the Speedway Town Board used very good judgment in selecting these new board members. We know that these new board members are conscientious, hard-working gentlemen, and will do everything with.ir their power and to the best of their ability to see that the children of Speedway have the best of opportunities to gain a higher education. The next regular meeting of this organization is to be held on the second Tuesday night of July of which is the 14th at a time and place to be announced later. We would like all of the citizens residing within the designated area of this organization to make an effort to attend this meeting, and we are herewith extending an invitation to any and all of those citizens residing in the town of Speedway to come down and sit in on this meeting if they so desire.
