Buzzing by “BUZZ” It is with a somewhat reluctant hand that I pen this, my last column for the Speedway FLYER. Perhaps during the last two years we have entered into an intimate fi iendship—perhaps only an aquaintance, but no matter what our relationship. I’ll always have very pleasant memories when I think of the kindness, consideration, patience, and courtesy you have shown me during my term as “School my successor my term as “School News Writer.” I can only hope that my successor will receive those little kindnesses that I have
been so glad to accept. But now, for a little of the “inside of things” here at S. H. S. This afternoon the student body witnessed the dedication of the Public Address System, which was, presented to the school by the Lion’s Club of our fair city, by Lt. Col. Mathews. It was truly an impressive dedication; and the students, faculty, Board, and patrons of the Speedway Schools sincerely want to thank this organization for its kindness in presenting to us one of our most-needed assets. Thanks a million ! ! ! Miss Zimmerman, Senior Class Sponsor, has just announced that she has received a letter from the Terre Haute Engraving Company, stating that the Speedette Annuals will be delivered May 18. These long-waited-for yearbooks will be delivered Tuesday, May 19. at the close of the Class Day Program. Speaking of Class Day, the Seniors of ’42 have really planned

something DIFFERENT in theflway of Class Day entertainment. It seems that . . . but that would be telling! Novella Northcott will leave her classes at Indiana University to come back to her “Alma Mater” and deliver the Valedictorian Address. Betty Nay will greet the on-lookers with the Salutatorian Address; while Lolita Schoenewey will ficitiously don the traditional black and will tell to the remaining scholars those “little” things that mean so much (?). A look into the future will be presented by Madam Prophecier Margery Sauer. “Yours truly” will delve back through the cobwebs of time, and bring forth I the Class History. Bob Williams l will give away gifts-yes, he’s the faverite, giftorian.
Besides all this, each member of the class will do his part in a little skit, which is really “gonna be sumpin” ! Why not come and witness all this Tuesday afternoon at 12:45? On May 27, the present Alumni will accept the present Seniors, at a banquet at “Catherine’s” on Norih Meridian Street. Immediately following the “feed”, transportation will be furnished to take the group to Westlake for dancing. Here s looking forward to a big time the 27th! Where The Men Eat
One good way to judge a reslaurant is this: Do the men like the food? Well, you ought to see the men coming here at noon time for their lunches. Someone suggested that we ought to call this the Business Men’s Noon Headquarters. We like feeding men; we also like to feed the families in the evenings.

Twenty-seven Seniors, nine of whom have been together for twelve whole years, will part their ways —all striving to attain success in whatever field they will enter into. We sincerely hope that you will miss us a little, -maybe in our ballgames, when you won’t see the boys of ’42, who helped make our teams ‘A-l”! Perhaps you’ll miss us in the plays, of which we contributed our best. At any rate, no matter how hard it may be to accustom ourselves to what ties ahead, you may rest assured that the “Class of ’42” will long remember its days at Speedway High.
