GET INDIANS RED HOT DURING LONG ROAD TRIP On Wednesday night, July 30th the hottest team in the American Association, the Indianapolis Indians returned to their home grounds at Perry Stadium to tackle the high flying Columbus Red Birds. The Indians have been the surprise of the league inasmuch as they were, for practically a month, in 7th place, and then all of a sudden flashing like a meteor across the sky they have taken on every club in the association and whipped them soundly, starting out with a winning streak of eight games out of nine and then losing one game and bouncing back to continue another winning streak of seven straight games. They have climbed from 7th place to sth place in about 2 or 3 weeks. It is the kind of ball club the Indianapolis Baseball Club officials have felt all along they have had but it was one of those things they could not understand when the team did not work as it should. However, one night Manager Kille-

fer called all of the boys into a huddle and laid down the law. From that time on the ball players were up at the plate taking a toe hold and starting to hit that ball. Getting down to the bare facts cf the case, it all amounts to one thing. The Indians have simply been winning ball games by one run that they lost in the earlier part of the season by the same margin. As Manager Killefer explains, it is simply the difference in getting that extra base hit when it is needed. On checking back over the records it seems that Mr. Killefer’s analysis of the situation is sound so it looks like the Indians have at last put on their war paint, have gone on the war path and promise the Indianapolis fans a lot of good baseball before the season is over.
