the Light Brigade” and “Dodge City.” The Santa Fe Trail has had a long, bloody history. More a living thing than a cross-continental route, it wended its way from “bloody” Kansas to wielded Santa Fe, back in the days when Fort Leavenworth, Kansas was the last, outpost of civilization. Principals in the exciting chapter of history. which springs to life in the film, are Jeb Stuart, portrayed by Errol I Flynn; General George Custer, played by Ronald Regan; and John Brown played by Raymond Massey. Newly graduated from West Pont, Stuart and Custer are sent out to the army post at Fort Leav-' enworth. One of their first duties is to escort a wagon train of freight westward on the Santa Fe Trail. The wagon freight service is managed by Kit Carson Holliday, portrayed by Olivia de Haviland. Both voung officers fall in love with Kit. The struggle between the United States military forces and John Brown’s forces make for an exciting film. Tingling with the torrid tempos of Havana, “Six Lessons from Madame La Zonga, “co-starring Lupe Velez as the siren of the song hit also opens Sunday at the Speedway. In addition to “the Mexican spitfire,” who co-stars with Leon Errol, the tuneful comedy-romance features a name-filled cast of favorites including Helen Parrish, Charles Lang and William Frawley.
