Arnold Homestead Visitors who pass Vassie and company’s store in St. John, in the Canadian province of New Brunswick, may see where Benedict Arnold lived from 1787 to 1791. After joining the British army in the Revolutionary war Arnold served with the rank of a general until December, 1781, when he sailed for England. Shortly after his arrival there he decided to go to Canada and he settled in St. John, where he built a store and sent a trading expedition to the West Indies. Visitors who go to Fredericton may see the Arnold homestead on Rose hill, as it is locally known.

Insulating Old Houses Already-built houses can be insulated just as 'effectively as new houses. Side walls can be insulated by drilling small holes through the outer sheathing and installing mineral wool insulation pneumatically. Exposed attic floors or ceilings can be insulated by the same method, or with prefabricated batts of mineral wool. Poor Man Gets Married Where a wealthy man hires a valet, a secretary, a laundress, a cook and a housekeeper, a poor man gets married to get all this help in one.
School Notes (Marcy Mann) Hi there, fellow citizens! How are all of my little readers this fine afternoon? That’s good! Well I’m in sort of a ‘dither’ when it comes to thinking up something nice and interesting to put into my column this week. Since there isn’t any basketball, I guess I’m going to have to go out and dig up some gossip! Well, let me think—
Say, here’s some news! It seems as though the school band is sponsoring a benefit concert to be held in the high school gym March 21! Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? The proceeds will be used to enter the band in the contest which is to be held April 19. More fun! Anyhow, ’this here’ concert is gonna be sumthin’! Yes, sire-e-e! There’ll be special numbers by the band, including the special contest numbers, some marches, etc., and along with that there’ll be a variety of other selections given by the talented folk of our fair city! Don’t you think that that’s a lot of fine entertainment for only 25c. And say ,if you’re of school age, why it’ll only cost you 15c! So,’ what’s say? Let’s dll come and help the band along! We’ll be looking for you!
The Juniors and Seniors were auite fortunate last week when they were taken to the State House to visit the State Legislature. They were treated hospitably and enjoyed seeing the State Police headquarters, as well as the Governor of our fair state! I think that both classes gained a better knowledge of how our state government i e handled, at least I did—oh, oh, I hope Mr. Northcott doesn’t see this ’cause he’ll think that I should raise my history grade, and oh, gosh! But that would sure be a task for me! Aha! A rumor is being passed around that the-Seniors'have selected their play for this year, and that the cast has also been chosen! Congratulations are due Margie Kelly, Joan Heuser, Mary Owens, Marian DeWar, Albert Webb, Dick Jennings, Charlie Tremor, Evelyn Schowalter, Sharlot Robertson, John Ramsay, and Ferda Crawley, who received parts. So, now, I’ll say, “We’re expecting good work from you, Seniors, ’cause we know that you can do it!” We’ll see you on March 28th!

Oh, boy! You know what! I just came up from the gym and guess wh ?. t „ l . saw! You’ll never do it, so 11l tell you! The Juniors, and the Seniors of both of the plays were standing on the stage, with their mouths opened with a jovial smile, and the prettiest faces you ever did see! That’s right! They were having their pictures “took- «“”! J guess they’re going to enter them in “that-(find- Annual that is going to be all finished, ‘at least as far as the Seniors are concerned) this Friday! Metro-Goldwyn, here we come! Well, I guess I’d better finish this up pretty soon, because I’m at a loss for words—quiet, please! (I know that sounds fantastic, but it’s true,) and besides, I’m running out of paper, so, Toodle-oo!
