School News (Marcy Mann) Howw-cha-doodle, peoples! Well, today I’m real real happy! No foolin’! So-o-o-ON WITH THE NEWS! Man, oh, man! I’ve never had such an exciting week-end in all my life as I did last week-end! Wasn’t it wonderful! The tourney I mean! Do you realize that this is the first time that good old S.H.S. has ever gone as far as the semifinals! We think that the boys did a grand job, defeating Washington and Howe, and then putting up such a grand battle against the Ben Davis squad. So orally, we give them a pat on the back, as we say, “Team, we’ve never been so proud of you! Nice going!” Say, did you know that Speedway High School had some “Cornelia Otis Skinners,” and some “Helen Hayeses?” Well, it has. And just to prove it, they showed off their skill last Wednesday afternoon during convocation, by giving a very delightful bit of “melodramie” entitled” “It’s* A Ming” by Helen A. Monsell! The girls are all members of our own Dramatic Club here at school, and from the way this play was presented they’re really doing okay, under the sponsorship of Miss Spencer. The play was given in three acts, arid oh, yes, the characters! Well, here’s the “line-Aip!” Agnes—Rosemary McDonald; Margaret—Betty Nay; Minerva—Evelyn Spencer; Phyllis—Lolita Schoenewey; Marcella—Marjorie Sauer; Millie—Marian Baxter; Nora—Margie Phipps; 'Aunt Lu-

cinda—Dot Rosner; Miss Sprockette—Marian Dewar. Bravo, girls, bravo! Well, tonight Spedway is really going to show the team what they think of them, with an Athletic Banquet, sponsored by the Senior class. There’s going to be plenty to eat, a good speaker, and lots of fine entertainment! The town’s mighty proud of the boys this year, not only the basketball team, but the football team as well. So, to them all, we say that we’ll always be able to boast of our speedy teams of ’4O and ’4l! You can’t be beat! And to the Seniors, who won’t be playing for us any longer, “Good luck!” Dog-gone, there goes another fingernail! That’s what I get for sitting here racking - my brain so i hard, when I just can’t think of I anything else to say! So, I guess I’d better slin into my coat and rush this to the editor! Toodle-oo! P. Chiropractically Speaking “The Old Master” (by Paul H. Tyner, D. C.) On March 7, 1845, Dr. Daniel David Palmer, the rediscoverer of Chiropractic first saw the light of day at Port Perry, Ontario. Hence his birthday is now being observed by chiropractic societies in various parts of the world. Last Sunday at the Hotel Lincoln in Indianapolis, Dr. J. E. Slocum Research Director of the National Chiropractic Association delivered the D.D. Palmer Memorial address before the Indiana Chironractor’r Association. Dr. Palmer is called the Rediscoverer of Chiropractic as he said: “The basic principle and the principles of Chiropractic which have been developed from it are not new. They are as old as the vertebra. I have both in print and by word of mouth, rPfatedly stated and rfow most em nhatically repeat the statemen* that I am not the first person to replace subluxated vertebrae by using the spinous and transverse processes as levers wherewith to rack subluxated vertebrae into normal position, and from this basic fact to create a science which is destined to revolutionize the theory and practice of the healing ait.” Dr. G. Ligeros (M.D.D.C.) has found records of spinal manipulation having been used in ancient Egypt and Greece. Hippocrates, the “Father of Medicine” recommended it, but during the dark ages the art of skeletal adjusting was abandoned for various super-

Dr. Slocum referred to a contemporary medical book by Warbuck in which the author showed that Blazius had advised adjusting subluxated vertebrae to relieve nerve impingements in 1869 (26 years before Palmer,) but that through the neglect of the medical profession this valuable therapy had been developed by “pseudo-scient-ists.” Dr. Palmer was said to have known more about the range of movement of joints than any man of his time.
