The Speedway Lions are planning to roar again soon. Yes, sir, the annual zone banquet will be entertained in Speedway this year. On February 26th the Lions will meet at the Speedway School to dine and—. Yep, we imagine to roar a little bit.
Say folks, here’s something you don’t want to miss. Two of America’s heroes will speak nt the Cadle Tabernacle tonight. Darrell Brady and Roscoe Turner will speak under the auspices of the Boy Scouts. M-m-m-m this makes it more inviting than ever—admission is free. You just get your, tickets from any boy scout. Speakin’ of the boy scouts, it looks as though they are about to take a new lease on life. The scouts paters and maters (fathers and mothers to you) met at the school last Monday night and organized themselves a parents’ council. This vindicates a belief we have held for a long time, namely, no matter how good your scoutmaster may be he can’t do much without the full co-operation of the parents. Our “dandelion of the week” goes to the scout parents for their fine work in organizing a council. Say—have you seen the new Speedway Bank? Nope, it isn't finished yet, but it shure is goln’ to be somethin’! There will be five windows, at which you can put in money (and take out money if you put enough in.) Yessir,, that bank’s gonna be so fancy, we may break down and put our fifteen cents in the bank instead of the "old sock.” Progress on Main Street is

indicated still more by the fact that Joe Etter has recently purchased a truck for his filling station. He is planning to mount a “Tow-in crane” on it which will enable him to give road and tow-in service to the despairing motorists. Gee whiz, there fust ain’t no end to the expansion of our Speedway businesses. ' A new idea trickled to this cblumnist’s ear the other day. Someone was suggesting the possibility of a full-time employed athletic and social director for Speedway. Now we don’t know a lot about the possibility of this yet, but doggone if it don’t sound like a purty good idea to us. Our kids need directed play and it seems as though this would be about the best investment the town could make right at this time. We have a fine gym and we’ve got the park which could be equipped for summer activities for our youngsters. Well, its just something to think about.

Air-Conditioned Bed Is Latest for Sleepy Folk Invention of an air-conditioned bed has been announced at the University of Washington in Seattle. The bed warms a person in winter and cools him in summer. He dials his own weather for the night with a knob at the head of the bed. An air-cushion under him and a new form of air-blanket over him makes this possible. The air-cush-ion affords, furthermore, another easily installed possibility. If father won’t get up when called, mother downstairs may press a button f and plop goes father’s air-cush-ion. The inventor, Dr. F. K. Kirsten, famous aeronautical engineer, estimates the new bed can be manufactured for less cost then present high class beds. The bed is a sheet metal box, minus a top. Over this open space is stretched a fabric sufficiently airtight to form a good cushion when the box is filled with compressed air. But the fabric is also porous enough to permit slow seepage of this compressed air, whether warmed or cooled, up and around the sleeper. Asbestos lines the steel interior, and an electric heating tube in the box warms the air. If cooling is wanted, it is only necessary to turn down the heater, for the air always comes into the box cooled automatically by expansion. The compressed air comes from a basement tank, at 150 pounds per square inch. In the bed this pressure reduces to only one-quarter pound a square inch. The expansion automatically reduces the temperature to 52 fahrenheit. The bed was designed specially for use in hotels and large establishments. i
