Jascha Heifetz, conceded to be the world’s greatest violinist, will be soloist Friday, January 31 at 2:30 p. m. and Saturday, February Ist at 8:30 p. m. with Fabien Sevitzky and the Indianapolis "Symphony Orchestra in the Murat Theatre. Mr. Heifetz will play Sibelius’ Concerto for Violin in D Minor. The program will also include the Tschaikowsky “Manfred” symphony and a group of symphonic Variations on Themes by Stephen Foster, by the American composer Arcady Dubensky. INDIANAPOLIS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA NEWS The world’s greatest violinist, Jascha Heifetz, will be soloist with Fabien Sevitzky and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at their sixth pair of Friday afternoon and Saturday evening subscription concerts January 31 and February 1. The concerts will be given, as usual in the Murat Theatre at 2:30 p. m. on Friday and 8:30 p. m. on Saturdav.

As part of the world-wide musical honor being paid to the finished composer Jean Sibelius this year, Mr. Sevitzky will play the Sibelius’ Concerto /or Violin in D Minor. The seldom played but extremely stirring Manfred Symphony by Tschaikowsky and the world premiere of a group of symphonic variations on Themes by Stephen Foster will compromise the remainder of the program for this pair of concerts. Reservations for either of these , concerts may be obtained by ad- . dressing the headquarters of the In- | dianapolis Symphony Orchestra in the Murat Theatre. Preparations are well under way for the all-request program to be played by the Orchestra under Mr. Sevitzky’s direction, 'in the new i Hall of Music at Purdue University I March 16th. This concert is being given under the" auspices of the Northwest Region of the Indiana State Symphony Society’s women’s committee in order to give the residents of that region in particular, ready access to the services of Indiana’s only major symphony orchestra. According to reports from Indianapolis several hundred requests for favorite compositions to be played have already been received, and the compositions having the most votes to date are “The Blue Danube Waltz” by Johann Strauss and several John Phillips Sousa marches. All requests for compostions to be played in this concert. which will be given at strictly popular prices, should be sent to Fabien Sevitzky, Murat Theatre, Indianapolis. Mrs. R.
