advertising mediums as newspapers, directories, direct mail or radio, he has no choice but to comply with the rules of his society. The saying: “A satisfied patient is the best advertisement” is quite true, but in starting, the young doctor is obliged to seek other means of bringing himself favorably to the attention of those who may be in need of his services, or he must spend many months in waiting and paying his expenses out of his reserve before his first patient just happens to wander in. | Much of his expenditure for club and lodge dues, etc., might well come under the head of advertising. It seems to me that the character of the advertising is more important than the medium used, and to take any other attitude puts us on a par with the people of bygone years who ostracized all people of the stage, like the minister who refused to marry actors, or the nobility of England who looked down on people who were “in trade.” It is true that so much advertising in the past was unreliable, that printed advertisments lost face, but under the leadership of the more ethical figures in the advertising field, the Advertising Clubs, Better Business Bureaus, etc., advertising as a whole is gradually taking on a different character so that the time is not far distant when we may expect even the most conservative members of the professions to be willing to tell their stories to the public in printers’ ink which they have paid for. NOTE: Dr. Tyner recently opened a Chiropractic office over Rosner’s Drug Store, 16th and Main, for night patients. He continues to maintain his office in the Odd Fellow Building. (Paid Adv.) Baby Whistling Champion The parents of 16-month-old David Matthews say he is the baby whistling champion of the world. His father, Jasper Matthews, of Ft. Myers, Fla., said he gave the baby a “few pointers” and now David “can be heard two city blocks.”
