SPEEDWAY P. T. A. EXECUTIVE MEETING The first and most important executive meeting of the Speedway P.T.A. will be held Wednesday, September 11th at 1 o’clock in the library room. Each member of the board should make a special effort to attend and remain during the entire meeting. The plans, projects, etc., for the whole year will be presented and discussed at this time. Indeed we would be very poor gardeners if we did not have plenty of patience, and by degrees we do over come the faults of our gardens. Many of our mistakes are the planting of things in the wrong place for best effect. There is no time as timely as the fall months to make changes in the garden picture, and if you are in need of information or inspiration all you need is the September issue of the “Flower Grower.” Such bargains in bulbs and plants of all kind. The cooler weather is new life to our roses; lots of new growth and many lovely buds and a deeper coloring, many of them have better blooms in the fall than they did in the spring. The frosts do not seem to harm them as they bloom until freezing time. Now is a good time to start cuttings; started now they will bloom next year. The small berries on the Aralia tree are ripe so the birds are having a feast. This is a small tree which creates a tropical effect. I have several small ones if any one wants to come and get them, as well as several lace-leaf Sumac which is also a beautiful small tree. It is seldom that either of these trees ever grow more than eighteen feet in hight, both have spreading tops. One of the most .beautiful flowering vines for this time of the year is the sweetscented “Clematis Paniculata.’’ Thousands of small white flowers make the vine look like a mound of snow, and the seed pods are just as lovely as the flowers, besides being food for the birds in the winter. This is the time to buy and set Peonies, be sure that the crown’s not more than three inches under the ground, as they do not bloom when set too deep. TRIANGLE CLASS TO BE ENTERTAINED All members of the Triangle Class of Speedway Christian Church are to be entertained on next Tuesday evening with a lawn supper at the borne of Martha and Sherman Ranck. Class members will please notice that this date is for next week, September 10th. Full announcements and plans for transportation will be discussed in lhe class sessions next Sunday morning. This event has been planned for and looked forward to for some time and it promises to be a very fine meeting. Let every member of Triangle be out next Sunday morning to get further details.
