Speedway plans town election on non-partisan basis-—school band WILL PLAY A non-political mass meeting/of Speedway citizens will be held at the Speedway High School Building on Wednesday evening, September 20th, 1939 at B*oo P.M. for the nomination and endorsement of candidates for the various town offices to be elected in November. The committee composed of Howard Wilson, E.A. Welty, and Fred Norris selected to arrange fo.r the mooting have proposed program rules for the meetings 1* Call to Order 2* Election of Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer 3. Adoption of final rules for the mooting 4. Nomination of candidates for the various town offices (a) There will bo no-limit to the number of nomination* made.' Ample tine will be. giwab to present names of candidates. (b) may bo made for any office by any legal voter living-in the town. (c) Candidates for Towp Trustee must live within the ward for which they ar© nominated. Clork-Treasurer may live in any part of tho town. Cd) Candidates will bo introduced as thoy are nominated and permitted to address tho mooting if they so dosiro. * 5. If necessary vote on candidates nominated to reduce the number to not over two for each office. In this way two complete representative tickets will bo endorsed by the mooting. 6. Count of vote. While voto is being counted tho Speedway School Band will play. At this time a collection will bo taken to cover expanses of the mooting and any surplus will bo turned over to tho school band fund. 7. Report of voto and reading of names of candidates endorsed •_ for tho two tickets. Ticket No. 1 will bo tho "Citizens" ticket and ticket No. 2 will bo tho "Peoples" ticket. 8. Tho mooting will divide into two groups-oach group to .organize and follow the legal procedure Accessary to properly plate tho candidates on their respective tickets for tho town election in November. Tho committoe urges all citizens and voters of Speedway to bo present and help select tho candidates for the various town offices regardless of political affiliation.
