SCHOOL NEWS SPEEDWAY PUBLIC SCHOOL The enrollment for tho 1937-1938 year in tho Spoodv/ay Schools, ns shown in tho official report to tho State Superintendent, is 19 6. for tho elementary school, grades one to six, "and 110 for tho high school, grades seven te twelve. Jho high school figures show 57 in the seventh and eighth grades with 73 in tho uppor four years. Tho growth in registration in

those years is sutisfacoryj enrollment by years showing 25 freshmen, 26 epphsnorog 16 juniors, and 6 seniors. The'high school program I. is arranged to provide for tho maximum amount of directed study, periods being one hour in length and all work being planned so that the majority of students can complete ail work assigned during tho combined work-study-recit-ation period. Work missed by absence will need to bo mudo up at other times,. Tho now building has been "dressed up" with now furniture in tho science room, tho commercial room, now bleachers, and with rubbor runners to protect tho flpor. Delivery of lockers is expected this week. 3o’ard Andorsun, minister of Speedway Christian Church was tho 'speaker at the Wednesday Activities Period. Othor programs - planned fo'r those periods include concerts, plays, and hobby shows. A model airpiano demonstration has boon planned for October 27th.■ :: ::
